Imagine being held captive in a third world country by terrorists, who use torture and abuse in exchange for information. Imagine not knowing where you are, what day it is and when you will be able to go home, if ever. This story is so devastating and thought provoking that it must be told.
The film opens at a foreign aid camp in Syria, with the main characters working in their roles. Layla as the operations manager meeting Adam as a representative from his father’s technology company, along with Mark as technical engineer; Jason arranging logistics with Andrea attending in the food tent, and finally we see Dr John and Junior Doctor Chris working in the medical tent.
The Syrian camp is running it’s daily tasks as a normal day, until black cars bulldoze into the camp with men dressed in black, carrying guns, who all gun down members of the camp, and eventually capture individuals (our main characters).
After the kidnapping event, our main characters all explore, experience and evolve in this intense situation. They all face daily ordeals that include torture techniques, starvation, psychological torments and extreme acts of adversity. This is main bulk of the film, learning with the characters rituals that the terrorists put them through. The characters open up about their lives back at home, John reveals about his daughter, Andrea talks about her parent’s death, they all have stories to tell. We follow the character’s back story, by seeing their families and situations back home; Adam’s father tries to bargain with the terrorists to get Adam home, we meet Mark’s estranged wife. The major turning points are the character’s deaths which happen in turn, which affects the rest of the group, in different ways, losing hope in their potential escape.
We are planning to film in Rochester, Kent in England.
Fort Borstal is a WWII converted bunker and stables, which is one of the locations that we filmed the teaser.
The location has a variety of rooms for different uses, which means that we can imitate the look of Syria.
The location in the picture, was used as the captives cell, whilst filming the teaser.
We will also be filming in a sand quarry in Bedfordshire and other locations such as offices and homes.
